Doulab for Circus and Dance is a non profit organisation dedicated to equal access to high quality contemporary circus and dance. Our ethos is based on our core founding values of equal rights to opportunity, inclusion, and artistic and technical excellence.
Founded in 2017 in Palestine by Fadi and Juliet Zmorrod, Doulab acts as an umbrella for creating and engaging with different communities through performance, festival curation and through short and long term workshop facilitation. We are passionate about enabling all, including marginalised, communities to access and experience high quality contemporary circus and dance.
Our projects crossed borders and involved numerous sectors of society in Palestine, working with local and international organisations to deliver high quality experiences in circus and dance for participants and audiences in high-risk areas.
Here in Ireland since 2021, Doulab has built strong relationships with communities throughout Dublin and the South East of Ireland, notably using social circus as a tool to engage with many different parts of society, such as the refugee community, the travelling community, the homeless community as well as in mainstream and special education schools. Doulab’s projects are currently supported by South Dublin County Council Arts Office, Creative Ireland South Dublin, the Arts Council of Ireland, Creative Ireland Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Creative Places Enniscorthy, Creative Places Darndale, Wexford County Council Arts Office, Wexford County Council Local Integration Team, Creative Ireland Waterford and other partners.
A pioneer in his field for over 20 years, he is specialised as an artist in the Chinese pole, acrobatics, and Cyr wheel. He graduated from Cirko Vertigo in Italy, and spent the following years touring worldwide in high profile theatres and festivals, with international contemporary circus, dance and theatre companies such as Circus Cirkör, Les Ballets C de la B and many more, as well as with his own productions.
He also co-founded the Palestinian Circus School back in 2006, directed the Palestinian National Circus Festival, and has mentored and trained professional artists and people of all backgrounds throughout Palestine, Europe and all around the world. His unique work in social circus pedagogy has been internationally recognised by various prestigious organisations.
Here in Ireland since late 2021, he is currently a recipient of the 2025 Arts & Inclusion Bursary from DLR County Council Arts Office, and was just the 2023/24 South East Venue Network Bursary Awardee, as well as being a recipient of support from the Arts Council of Ireland and other bodies.
She moved back to Ireland from Palestine in 2021, where her main focus was on dance, and facilitating creative movement workshops for young people and children in at-risk areas, such as refugee camps and areas under threat. She is also qualified in Rambert’s Creative Dance for Early Years programme, as well as holding a qualification in babywearing, and is currently also a practicing babywearing dance facilitator. She is also a recipient of the Arts Council’s Agility Award in 2024, which she received to support her practice in creating contemporary dance work for very early years audiences. She is the Festival Manager of Rí Rá Festival of Children’s Arts, and also works on various projects as an artist facilitator with The Ark and other bodies.
